A 'Print Cartridge Cradle is Stuck' or 'Stalled Carriage' Error Message Displays for HP Printer
A "Print cartridge cradle is stuck" or "stalled carriage" error message will display on the control panel of the product.
The carriage assembly, which holds the ink cartridges will stall against the left side. The product may also have the issues like paper jam, the product not printing, and stops printing suddenly. The print cartridge cradle may be stuck on any one side or in the middle of the printer.
A carriage jam will arise for many reasons such as stoppage in the path of the carriage, a paper jam, or even the issues with the product software. To solve the issue, print a self-test report to determine the product hardware functions correctly. Once the problem has been solved, and the product prints a self-test report, there is no need to go ahead with the troubleshooting procedure.
A self-test report can be printed by loading plain paper in the paper tray. If the user keeps pressing the Resume button four times, the self-test page begins to print. To reset the print mechanism, Turn off and Turn on the printer. Mis-placement or incorrect installation of the cartridges may cause the carriage stall error. Removing and re-installing the cartridges may solve the error.
Plug the product into a wall outlet, to be sure the power source is properly functioning. It can be done by reconnecting the power cord to the back of the product.
The Power button should be pressed to TURN ON the printer. Print a self-test report. In case the test page prints successfully, but you experience a different issue with your printer, then try servicing the product. In case the product is in the warranty period, then charges may not apply or else the user may have to pay for the servicing.
