HP Officejet 4650 All In One Printer Color or Black Ink Not Printing

Printer is working properly but the Printer output is missing black or color ink or printer printing the black page or printed with faded ink. Follow the below given steps:

Step 1: Use genuine HP ink cartridges
  • Ensure the ink cartridges are compatible with your printer.
Step 2: Check estimated ink levels
  • Check the low ink level can impact print quality.
  • Go to the Printer Control Panel and select the Ink icon to display the current estimated ink levels.
Step 3: Replace any low or empty ink cartridges
The following step will be helpful only if your ink cartridges displays the low ink otherwise you can skip the following steps
  • Switch ON the Printer.
  • Ensure to load the printer with plain,white paper.
  • Gently grasp the handles on either side of the printer, then raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into place.
  • Carriage moves to the center of your printer.
  • Wait until the carriage is idle and don't forget to silent it before you proceed.
  • To release the ink cartridge, lift the lid on the ink cartridge slot, then gently push the lid back until it stops.
  • Pull up on the ink cartridge to remove it from the slot.

  • Remove one of the new ink cartridges from its package. Be careful while you touch the black plastic tape on the ink cartridge.
  • Remove the plastic tape from the ink cartridge.
  • Hold the ink cartridge by its sides with the nozzles toward the printer, then slide the ink cartridge and forward it to the slot.
  • Close the lid on the ink cartridge slot to secure the ink cartridge in its place

3. The color ink cartridge is on the left, and the black ink cartridge is on the right
  • Repeat the previous steps to install the other ink cartridge if needed.
    Close the ink cartridge access door.
  • Wait for the alignment page to fully eject from the printer.
  • Lift the scanner lid.
  • Place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it accordingly to the engraved guides around the scanner glass.
  • Close the scanner lid, then touch OK.
Step 4: Clean the ink cartridges
  • Ensure to load the input tray with plain white paper.
  • On the printer control panel, swipe the display to the left, then click Setup
  • Now select Tools, then select Clean Cartridges.
  • Analyze the print quality on the Print Quality Diagnostic report.
    a)If the print quality is acceptable, select No. You can stop the troubleshooting.
    b)If the print quality is unacceptable, select Yes when prompted to perform the next level of cleaning.
Step 5: Identify the problem in ink cartridge

To identify the defective ink cartridges check the text and color blocks on the test page to identify any defective ink cartridges.
  • If you identify any defects with the black text on the page, replace the black ink cartridge.
  • If you identify any defects with the colored blocks on the page, replace the tri-color ink cartridge.
Step 6: Check the ink cartridge warranty status

  • Turn on the printer.
  • Make sure to load the printer with plain white paper.
  • Gently grasp the handles on either side of the printer, then raise the ink cartridge access door until it locks into its place.

  • Close the lid in the ink cartridge slot to secure the ink cartridge into its place.
  • Repeat the previous steps to install the other ink cartridge if needed.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door.
  • Wait for the alignment page to fully eject from the printer.
  • Lift the scanner lid.
  • Place the alignment page with the print side down on the scanner glass. Position it accordingly to the engraved guides around the glass.
  • Close the scanner lid, then touch OK.
Step 8: Service the printer

If its not rectified by the mentioned guidelines service the printer. After completing preceding steps you can service or replace your HP Printer.
